Our Kennebunk head seamstress, Lisette, ventures over to Portsmouth each Saturday to spend the day at the store, adjusting fit and tweaking lengths of sleeves and pant legs. Customers can even choose to have an item made in a different color; for example, one woman chose to spice up our Wool Jumpsuit by having it made in red (it’s usually only available in black). You can also elect to choose a different fabric from among our ultra lightweight wool (4 oz) our lightweight wool (5 oz) or our French Terry wool. All of this is a complimentary perk of the experience of shopping in a Ramblers Way store.
Customer Christina had a Cotton Off the Shoulder Blouse custom sewn by Lisette and said, “I was delighted to be able to have an already beautiful and well-made piece of clothing fit me perfectly. Having the opportunity to customize a garment is wonderful. Not only was the top done in an hour, but it’s now a piece that truly suits my figure and has become a treasured part of my wardrobe.”
According to Portsmouth store manager Jenna, “People visiting the store during the week have come back on a Saturday just to see Lisette in action. People visiting from abroad are excited to watch clothes being made right here in Portsmouth, and so are people who’ve lived down the block for years.”
